MOSAIC ART: BASIC AND BEYOND, Two-Day Workshop in Ojai, California
Learn everything you need to know to get started as a mosaic artist (all supplies provided) and how to grow from there!
Sept. 7, 2024: Work on designs, learn to cut tiles and use the tools. Students will tile 8”x8” square MDF boards, creating unique designs. If not finished at the end of the class, you can take your piece home to work at it, because on Day 2, we grout them!
Sept. 8, 2024: We grout all the mosaic pieces and admire their diversity. After grouting, I will discuss and demonstrate the use of other kinds of mosaic techniques, tools, substrates, adhesives (including thinset mortar, which is used for most outdoor mosaic work, including wall murals). Then Ojai local, Jim Burklo, will show and discuss his methods for turning scrap wood, metal and found objects into beautiful works of art.
