This class is appropriate for new or experienced mosaic artists.

Day 1, 12noon - 5pm (with a break for lunch or snacks): We start with a tour of the mosaic pieces all around my house, including a small mosaic wall mural, garden sculpture, kitchen backsplash, tabletops (indoor and outdoor), bathroom counter, cow skull, rhinoceros bust, toasters and more. I’ll tell you all about the processes I used to create them, if you’re interested! The good, the bad and the ugly. Then we will work on stepping stone designs and learn two mosaic techniques: the mesh-transfer method (often used for wall murals and other large projects) and the direct method, using thinset mortar. All materials will be supplied, including a 12” stepping stone. You will begin tiling your stepping stone.

You will take home all the supplies you need to continue working on your piece at home. There will be an opportunity during the week to come pick up more tiles and get any needed assistance.

Day 2, 12noon - 2pm: We will grout the stepping stones and line them up to admire them! Depending on the class interest, I can demo how mosaic sculptures are created or other projects and techniques.
